Bangkok 2011!
So I went on a crazy shopping spree in Bangkok for 4 days! All in all, I spent about S$780 on shopping, eating and massages, S$210 to tailor 4 work skirts, $130 buying Chanel makeup at BKK airport's duty free, S$366 for Thai airways to-and-fro and S$175 for Grand Diamond Hotel (3 nights). So there goes my Grow and Share $$$ and some of my Zouk pay! Quite proud that I sponsored my own shopping (that's $910 okay) =) My parents paid for the air ticket, hotel and the tailored skirts =)
So anyway, I left Singapore with my luggage half empty and weighing 10 kg. I suspect my toiletries alone were more than 1 kg! When I came back (I had to sit on my luggage to zip it), my luggage bag was 21 kg! HAHA. So astonishing! 4 days of shopping = 11 kg! I don't have much pictures from BKK since I was so busy shopping but here are the few below!
Day 1 - 3rd May
We landed at around 9am, it was straight to the hotel and then the shopping starts!!
Brought Jonjon along as he always goes on all my overseas trips with me!
Our marvelous hotel suite at Grand Diamond!!
So after all our traveling and shopping, plus we forgot that we haven't had lunch till it was almost 3pm, we were super tired and settled for a Jap restaurant were there were waiters to serve us. This is at the top level of Platinum mall.
My note book to record my money and the stuff that I have bought, my scientific calculator and my BB!
This is absolutely super and comparable to Jap restaurants in Singapore! Hot-plate beef slices set! All in all, our meal cost S$6 each! HAHA. I simply couldn't stop myself from laughing because everything was amazingly cheap!! GOOD START TO THE TRIP.
After lots more of shopping, we went back to the hotel to dump all our stuff, then went to see the tailor to make our stuff (THE TAILOR IS REALLY WONDERFUL. PLEASE ASK ME IF YOU WANT TO TAILOR ANYTHING IN BKK) and lastly, headed for a massage!!! After walking up and down the road, we realized that the usual massage parlor that we had been going to for the past 4 times was GONE. Super sad, but in the end we managed to find another one which was even more nicely decorated with similar prices, so we had a 2 hour thai massage!!
Day 2 - 4th May
We decided to go for adventure and took 2 tuk tuk rides that day. It's really quite scary at times! One of the tuk tuk drivers went against the flow of traffic! SUPER SCARY. Went to shop the whole day and then for a massage!
Day 3 - 5th May
So today was the designated "eat-the-yummy-beef-noodles-at-platinum-mall-day"! IT WAS SUPER CRAZILY YUMMY. I finished every single strand of kway tiao, all the beansprouts and the meat/meatballs! It's is the first stall (left-most) in the food court and there's this giant boiling pot of meat/don't-know-what in it! If I don't remember wrongly, it is 45 baht (less than S$2) per claypot! SUPER F-ING CHEAP.
Then after shopping/etc, we went off to meet Tristan and his friends who had just landed in BKK that day for dinner! The 5 of us squished into a taxi and were off to Chinatown to have shark's fin! BUT, ON THAT FATEFUL DAY, CHINATOWN WAS CLOSED BECAUSE THERE WAS SOME HOLIDAY -_- So, there was no shark's fin =( In the end we rounded back to eat seafood! It was not cheap! S$35 per person.
The supervisor helping us to choose and catch a Garoupa!
Tristan's friend checking the fish.
OUR FISHIE!
No we didn't order this!
Pamela and I.
Super huge (and super expensive) prawns. I think they were tiger prawns! Didn't get this either cause their price was crazy.
An already dead fish. (not ours)
I know it's not very obvious, but we were "holding" a lobster. I was holding the lobster as far away from myself as possible (the lobster did look quite menacing was close range) which happens to be an arm's length. Then the supervisor was very evil, he shook the lobster and it went into this mad wriggling phase and we screamed and the saltwater went into my mouth. EEWWW. Plus the supervisor thought that it was very funny and laughed at us -_-
Our steamed prawns!
Coke in glass bottles!
Tiny prawn VS Giant prawn
Our fish which was cut in a very weird/non-traditional way.
A vegetable dish to look healthy.
Can't remember what this was exactly. I know it's diced chicken with ______.
Day 4 - 6th May
This was our supposed "chill day" because we already covered all the places that we wanted to shop at, plus we were starting to get really low on cash! HAHA. We went to Pantip Plaza to check out some electronics, went for lunch (PLATINUM BEEF NOODLES AGAIN) and then collected the tailored stuff and headed back to do the last of the stuffing of our luggage. There was a big jam on the way to the airport which resulted in us reaching later than we wanted and expected to! In the end we didn't really have much time to shop at the airport duty-free section! I only managed to hurriedly buy a Chanel Foundation (S$70) and a Chanel Blush (S$55)! They were about S$15 - S$20 cheaper than if you bought in the dept stores in Singapore! Would have wanted to see Bobbi Brown and MAC but we didn't have the time to! I have only recently found out that MAC was quite decently priced! I always thought that MAC was like Bobbi Brown's range of price (which is expensive to me) so I never bothered looking at their cosmetics. One day I shall go and explore! =D

The multitude of ribbon hair pins that I bought! Will be giving a few away to friends!
My crazy hot pink luggage that was literally FULL TO THE BRIM even after the extension! When I left Singapore, it was 10kg (half-filled, even though I practically brought my whole toilet full of stuff with me), and when I flew back, it was 21kg! HAHA. CRAZY.
My luggage zipped up! Had to sit on it! By the way, I think my packing skills are AWESOME. Muahaha!
The only 2 items that I bought from the BKK duty-free!
Super pretty! I am not a spendthrift okay. This are my first set of expensive make-up. AND if you recall, I had already wanted to buy the foundation since last year but had refused to buy it cause it was super duper expensive (more than S$80).
The compact comes in a velvety-soft pouch-like cover!
Okay, that's all for now, I REALLY REALLY NEED TO START WRITING MY MEMO FOR WORK. ARGH =(
xx Loved At 10:19 pm
