Chinaland!
Cannot be bothered to switch my Macbook Pro on to upload photos to blogger, so I shall just get the lower quality photos from Facebook! The sequence of photos are all messed up so it's going to be very random!
BEANIES! We were on our way to a restaurant near my dad's condo when we saw this man selling beanies, rabbits and guinea pigs! We asked the price and I can't exactly remember how much they were but it was definitely much lower than in Singapore!
This is what my dad calls a "panda-rabbit". HAHA. They purposely bred the rabbits to have black markings around their nose, eyes and on their ears! LIKE A PANDA, hence the name "panda-rabbit". SUPER CUTE.
Rabbits at the sides, guinea pigs in the middle column!
This was at Luohu. It's a place where there are a million tailor and cloth shops. The bottom of my mummy's boots dropped off just as we reach here and luckily we managed to find two cobblers! They are not Han Chinese but belong to some minority group (obviously I don't know which one!). Their skills were really superb and they repaired the stuff so fast!
The main reason for going to Luohu was to tailor stuff! Made a Cheongsam (for CNY), two tweed jackets and a pair of black pants for internships/work! It's really much cheaper making clothes here than if you had made them in Singapore/etc.
After consulting with the tailor and taking measurements, the tailor will bring you to this super huge place with more than 40 stalls all selling all kinds of cloths/buttons/lace/etc! This is a stall selling rabbit and fox fur!
Stall selling silk!
This is roughly the size of one stall!
My mummy on an electric bicycle! They hang around places with high foot traffic and offer short-distance rides for 3yuan (5yuan = S$1). I always take them to and from the MRT station and the condo!
My brother!
Took this picture to illustrate how CHEAP the food is in Shenzhen. 12yuan for 15 guotie dumplings! PLUS THEY EVEN HAVE MORE THAN FIVE TYPES OF GUOTIE! Means that each dumpling is less than 20cents! In Singapore, one dumpling at my favourite stall in Chinatown costs 50cents each!
Opposite my dad's condo is this long street where the not so rich people live, it's something like a huge kampong style of living. The people who have shops there or who sets up temporary stalls also live along that street! We kind of refer to that street as the "village". It's quite safe because I did walk through that street alone quite a few times at night! Around 8pm every night, this guy will set up his BBQ Chicken stall (he's bbqs the chicken on the spot). My brother is a fan of this stall and one whole bbq chicken only costs 25yuan (S$5)!
Camwhoring in the lift!
While I was still alone in Shenzhen, I went to eat at this Japanese restaurant with this egg-looking thing! From whatever I can gather from the instructions, you're supposed to put in a 1yuan coin and your fortune will come out in the form of a token (I think) thought the mouth of the egg!
The MRT station nearest to my dad's condo!
I bought Dunkin' Donuts every two days for my supper and breakfast!
Family portrait from super long ago!
Bought angry birds bedroom slippers because the floors were ice-cold when the heaters were not on! SUPER CUTE. They just look so angry all the time!
This was one of the dishes during a business dinner. A WHOLE BOWL FILLED WITH CHOPPED CHILLIES. There's sliced fish in it but seriously, the sheer amount of chilli in the bowl is WOW.
The restaurant had some show every night at 730pm! Some tea-pouring stunts and traditional Chinese face-swopping item!
This is my fluffy hand-warmer (replaces the need for gloves!) which my mummy bought from her last trip to Lijiang! Inspired by all the concubine-fighting-chinese-emperor-shows! Just put your hands through each end of the hand-warmer!
My bedroom! Super heart the bed-frame!
My last minute BK breakfast at Changi Airport before I flew off to Shenzhen!
Uploaded this picture to show my tweed jacket!
Purposely made the whole family go to Hong Kong for two days just to go to Wong Tai Sin temple. I was really really stressed out about training contract and I just had to get an answer. (I was really worried that I wouldn't even be able to get a job) I'm not really a superstitious/religious person but I have heard stories of how accurate the predictions from this temple are. Plus my mummy also got a super scarily accurate reading from here many years ago! And if you are curious, yes, the prediction that I got REALLY CAME TRUE.
We went to a theme park (OCT East Theme Park) for a day and it was super tiring. The park was huge and was situated from the foot of a mountain all the way to the peak! A REAL MOUNTAIN OKAY, NOT THE BUKIT TIMAH HILL KIND. A whole field of sunflowers! Each "flower" is as big as your face!
Rows and rows of more flowers.
This is at the peak of the mountain! They made this glass pathway which hung over the side of the mountain! If the glass breaks, you actually fall all the way down the mountain into a lot of trees = die. I refused to step onto the glass path in case I fall and die.
This is the top of a mountain. If you fly off, there's only one outcome --> DIE. I was nervous just walking across the red bridge on the left of the picture. IMAGINE THE PEOPLE ON THE RIDE. It turns 360degrees and flips you upside-down!
Cable cars that will bring you halfway down the mountain!
To get all the way down, you need to take a cable tram thing from the cable car station! THAT IS HOW HIGH THE MOUNTAIN IS.
My brother making funny faces -_-
3D glasses for some epic-ly BORING 3D show.
Had to take a picture of these caps! They have battery powered fans! Everyone needs one of these!
This is my brother eating some Chinese version of satay! He ate four or five sticks in that one hour.
LOG FLUME! Super do not like this ride because when I was young, my parents tricked me into taking the log flume ride in Ocean Park (HK) and told me that it was just a rocky boat ride. I was so traumatized after the whole ride that I apparently couldn't talk for the next half hour. BAD MEMORIES.
My brother and I at a man-made waterfall at the entrance of the park!
After looking through all my photos, I realized that I don't even have a picture of my rabbit fur coat =( Super sad! Off to have steamboat at Tifen's house!! EXCITED!
xx Loved At 3:58 pm
